Athletics Competition Nights:

Where, when and what happens at Little Athletics?

Athletics is held at Barton Park, North Parramatta every Friday evening from September through to March. Athletes compete in 4-6 events each night. The events vary in a four-week rotating program.

What do we bring on a Friday Night?

Athletes should bring a water bottle. A jacket or long pants for cooler nights is also advised. Athletes can wear a t-shirt or long sleeved top under their Little A's singlet, as long as their number can be seen during an event.

What happens in wet weather?

We rarely cancel, except in extreme weather or when the council has closed the ground. Notification will be sent via Team App, so please ensure you have joined and have notifications turned on.

What happens if we can't make a Friday night?

That's ok! We understand life can get messy and you have other commitments. There's no need to let us know. We will see you next time.

How involved do I have to be as a parent?

Parents are expected to sign on and help.

In order to run each Friday, we require approximately 120 parents each night to assist with set-up, time-keeping, race starting, canteen, BBQ, Age Group helpers, and pack-up. There is a duty roster for the set-up and pack-up as well as the canteen and BBQ.

What time on Friday nights?

All athletes should arrive at 5:45pm for a 6:00pm start. Tiny Tots should finish at approximately 7:00pm. 6s and 7s finish around 7:30pm, with 8s and above between 8:00pm and 9:00pm.

What is an Age Manager?

An Age Manager is a volunteer, usually a parent, not a paid coach.

They are in charge of guiding the age group safely through the events for the night. They provide basic instruction for each event, and show other parent helpers what to do.

Does Little Athletics run through the school holidays?

Little Athletics runs through the October school holidays. There is a break for 4 weeks over Christmas and New Year. Members will be notified in advance of the break period.

What happens if I arrive late or have to leave early?

When you arrive late, check the program, find the age group and let the Age Manager know you have arrived. Then your athlete can join in on the fun!

If you have to leave early, find the age group and let the Age Manager you are taking your child.

Do parents have to stay at the ground?

Yes.  A parent must remain at the field in case of injury or cancellation due to wet weather.
